About Grant Skatepark
Grant Skate Park is a three-acre concrete skate plaza located at the south end of Grant Park in downtown Chicago. Designed by Altamanu and opened in 2014, the park blends modern street skating with architectural elements inspired by the site’s railroad history, including reclaimed limestone from the historic Central Station. The flowing layout features rails, ledges, stairs, banks, and open lines that attract skaters of all levels. Built as a public community space alongside a performance area and amphitheater, the plaza has become one of Chicago’s premier skate destinations and has hosted events including the Mountain Dew Skate Tour and Volcom Wild in the Parks. The park includes rails, stairs, ledges, and banks, along with limestone elements from the old Central Station. It’s open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and it’s accessible for skaters of all skill levels.
