About Loveland (Mehaffey) Skatepark
The Mehaffey Park Skatepark in Loveland, Colorado, is a roughly 15,000-square-foot concrete facility built in 2015 by Team Pain. It is heavily transition-focused but designed with a layout that smoothly connects its distinct structural zones. Snake Run Bowl: The centerpiece is a massive, multi-level snake run. The primary roll-in features a significant downhill grade that utilizes a series of smooth floor humps and moguls to help riders generate and carry speed uphill to the back of the bowl. It is highly irregular, featuring a massive concrete "stump" element, varied entry grades, tight corners, hips, and grindable pool coping throughout. Classic Pool Bowl: Separate from the snake run, this standalone bowl is modeled directly after traditional backyard pools. It features highly aggressive, steep walls, traditional pool coping, and authentic architectural details including "deathboxes," pool stairs, and a functional pool light. Street Section: The street course is built to connect seamlessly with the vert sections, using long quarter pipes and banked turns at the perimeters to act as turnaround elements that preserve speed. The interior is densely packed with cement boxes, ledges, embankments, and multiple rail configurations. Infrastructure: The facility is equipped with push-button stadium lighting for night sessions and features a large central awning to provide a shaded staging area between runs.
